Welcome to the Shockey One Name Study

About the Project

The Shockey Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Shockey name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Shockey name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual team studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (Switzerland Schackes), by time period (18th Century Shockeys), or by topic (Shockey DNA, Shockey Occupations, Shockey Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Accidentally bumped into this name (and ONS) today. Is everyone aware of this source: _A genealogy of a Steer family: Comprising some of the ancestors and nearly all the descendants of Joseph and Grace (Edgerton) Steer_, by Isaac S. Russell (1826 - ?) (Isaac S. Russell?, New Market, Maryland, 1891?), page 99.

This source is made freely available from The Internet Archive (archive.org); accessed 14 February 2022.

OF COURSE, and as always, use a BIG dose of caution with these kinds of published sources, but the few names I checked seemed to match with other WT profiles. I added a few geographical locatons, too. FWIW

Wanted to compliment you guys on a great ONS page. Btw, I have worked on Regina Schacke as she falls within my realm of Sauk County, Wisconsin and will be adding her parents. Hopefully I can connect her to other Schackes in Germany.
